I’m really excited to tell you about a new foodie hotspot that will be opening in Halifax this fall. Mark Pavlovski, a mathematician and coffee connoisseur, and his partner Katie Roux, a talented cook and artist, have teamed up to bring you The Nook on Gottingen, a cozy, licensed cafe where I just can’t wait to spend my time and money.
The Nook is a modern coffee shop with a rustic feel that will offer delectable caffeinated beverages and mouthwatering alcoholic concoctions. During the day, you’ll be able to enjoy your delicious beverage with a scrumptious baked good while you take advantage of the free wifi, and at night they will offer a selection of tapas-style delicacies for guests to nibble on while they chat with friends.
I am among a privileged few that have had a sneak-peek inside and the decor is fabulous. The walls are painted with non-toxic, clay-based paint, and many of the fixtures are made of recycled old lumber, including pallets. This earthy palette is contrasted by stark white chairs, steampunk-esque pipes and a space-age espresso machine.
I’m sure it is soon to become my regular haunt because they intend to have menu items suitable for special diets like vegan, gluten-free, and raw, and they will source local ingredients whenever possible. And did I mention the free wifi?
